Welcome to our blog, we are the sandmen, Guy Cockin, Tavis Walker and James Vessey, three archaeologists (in some cases ex archaeologists) who have risen to the challenge of the Plymouth Banjul rally. The rally occurs annually and is what might be called the banger equivilant of the Paris Dakar race.
The rally is all about raising money for charity, in our case Wateraid www.wateraid.org.uk. So if you want to aid us in our drive to raise £4000 you can donate via paypal on this website!
The Plymouth to Banjul rally occurs annually and could be called the banger equivalent of the Paris Dakar race. The Banjul rally isn't a competition, and certainly not a race, the challenge is to make it all the way to the Gambia in an old vehicle.
Starting in Plymouth on the 19th December we will ferry to France from where its all out for Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and finally the Gambia.
We will post our progress on this blog regularly so you can see where we get stuck/break down/lost etc etc. The rally is all about raising money for charity, in our case Wateraid. So if you want to aid us in our drive to raise £4000 you can donate via paypal on this website!
